I must admit I loled at that. But in all fairness, you never know what some people/companies have, and/or are chucking out. A few months back, for instance, I saw a server (pretty powerful machine at that), at a market, for 10 GBP (I didn't buy, coz the woman on the stall was a complete b!tch, but that's beside the point...). Furthermore, I saw on a carboot once the mobo for what looked like an AT (can't be certain), but at the time I was with my relatives (who don't want more bits of wire and cr@p around the house, no matter what it is. Grrr), so I couldn't even have a look
Moral of the story: the comment was probably tongue-in-cheek, but don't be so quick to dismiss the idea. And search (if possible/legal) landfill sites and the like as well, other things may become apparent (electronic dumping grounds/recycling centres are also a treasure trove).
