Jani OS: an x86_64 kernel using persistent objects, capabilities, Zig, and WebAssembly
I’m building Jani, a free and open-source operating system intended to become a dependable desktop OS.
It currently boots through Limine, manages physical and virtual memory, has a kernel heap, interrupts, a VirtIO-backed persistent object store, capability tables, and Zig WebAssembly components running through WAMR.
I’m looking for contributors interested in kernel development, Zig, drivers, security boundaries, testing, documentation, or formal verification. The project is still under active development, and the security documentation clearly separates implemented protections from planned work.

Build instructions and contribution guidelines are included. Feedback on the architecture is welcome, and several small issues are available for first contributions.
