AaZaA

I've just recently started making my OS, AaZaA.

It's coded in basic, and compiled using FreeBasic for DOS. I've then got it to run under FreeDOS, which means I'm completely Microsoft free!

Read a little more about it at http://www.uberaaz.com/aazaa.html. Shortly you'll be able to download a basic copy of it there, too.

It's features, that set it apart from, lets say, Linux, are practically instant boot. Even when running from a floppy, the kernel loads and tranfers control to AaZaA in about 5 seconds.

Post your thoughts!

I've updated the page with some screenshots of AaZaA in action. It's still pretty simple, but I am probably adding more functions to it as you read this!

Feedback, somebody?

It doesn't look like what I would normally call an OS, maybe more of a DOS shell, and I question the sanity of attempting to write an OS in BASIC.

When I say 'OS' I technically mean DOS shell :).

I am now working on completely rewriting AaZaA to incorporate a hi-res GUI.

I'll let you know when I've got something to show of it!

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind.

Is there anywhere I could get a decent C tutorial?
