VLC will do streaming for you, though I don't think it has a huge range of options in terms of doing it "live".

thx, that might help if i ever figure it out, but you dont think i could hook a mic to my pc and stream that? online radios i see have a .pls file filled with the address of a file or something on a port, im a little confused??? .pls :

Code: Select all

[playlist]
NumberOfEntries=1
File1=http://stream.wusb.stonybrook.edu:8090/
so that is most likly just a play list with a internet file as a song?

Yeah, the playlist just gives the address of the server rather than a local file.

Maybe that helps?

Yep, SHOUTcast and one fine server...

This is good:
www.radiostation.cz

Free server, BUT only 32kbps and 10 listeners max.
Or you can pay (128 kbps,25 listeners will cost about 800 Kč [35 dollars] monthly)

It is in Czech language, but if ya want, i can translate it to you. ;)

Also, ICEcase is a free version of the shoutcast server, from the friendly guys behind CD paranoia, Ogg, Vorbis, Theora, and Flac.
