In the interest of starting a flame war, I would like to submit to you the following statement which I bet you can't disprove: I believe in creation. Go ahead, try to disprove it. Bet you can't

How much of a bet are we talking? 20, 40, 80, 100?

What do we have to prove wrong... you believing in creation?

Maybe something along the lines of -

God created the heavens and the earth in 6 or 7 days.

But then that was kind of an evolutionary process itself since it happened over a period of time, Right?

Creation and Evolution are not mutually exclusive. Someone might have created the process of evolution, or could have had his hand in it.

You also didn't state which creation you believe in. Aboriginies, Celts and Native Americans have quite different tales to tell about the creation of Earth...

If you are talking of the First Book Moses, it is proven that Earth is several million years old (more than the Bible tells us.) It is also proven that it took longer than six days from chaotic matter to mankind. If you accept that some of the stuff in Genesis is a metaphor, there's nothing to keep you from believing in creation and evolution.

Yes, but it is not specified how long each "day" is, so it could have been much longer. I interpret this more as six periods of time.

That is what I meant by saying "metaphor".

I interpret the fact that god did nothing on the seventh day that she discovered what kind of blunder she did when creating mankind, and stopped before it got even worse.

Imagine that the universe was created in a way that makes us believe it is billions of years old...a real believer would argue that you can't prove anything of that time. Btw. I also believe that science and roman catholic religion are not mutually exclusive as long as you accept that many things in the bible are metaphors or stories rather than facts....and many people would still be alive too....

If you would have said "science and christianity", I would have agreed. Roman Catholicism, though, has rather strict rules on what to believe and what not.
