Well i dont really know. Im installing it regardless, but im not sure if i should run the games on XP 32 or XP 64.

Anyway my new computer is great. Much better than my old P4:

New stuff:
ABIT NF8-V Mobo with AMD A64 3000+ overclocked to 2200 mhz.
Case with weird temperature monitor on it and 450 watt psu.

Old resused stuff:
1024 MB of RAM
Two 120 GB Hard drives
Geforce FX 5200 8x AGP 128 mb
Geforce MX 420 PCI 64 MB
16x DVD-ROM drive
48x24x48 CD-RW drive
PCTV Capture card.

My question is:
Has anyone else tried XP x64, and if so, what did you think of it?

I'm using it right now (the only OS I've bothered to install on my new A64 system for the time being), it isn't much different from the 32bit version on the outside (looks and acts the same) but it's based on Win2003 Server so is built from newer code then XP32, it's also much faster then the 32bit version (even in 32bit programs).

Be careful with nVidia drivers if you have an nForce motherboard, the official nVidia nForce drivers crashed my system every few minutes, I currently only have the ethernet and sound drivers installed which work fine for me.

Odd...I have the nForce 3 chipset installed the drivers clicked continue on 5 different Windows Logo approved dialogs, and it seems to work fine.

I have tried playing BF1942. It seems to be running quite faster than it did before on my old P4. I am not sure wheter it was just the faster CPU or a combination of both that made it much faster.

FireFox seems to run a lot faster, and i can compare that because i ran it in the 32 bit version of windows i also have installed.

Like to know what exactly? I'm using an Athlon 64 3000+ as it was the cheapest available (best value/performance combination)

I also have a AMD Athlong 64 3000+ except i have mine oc'ed to 2200 ghz.

If you would like to know about Windows XP x64, then I shall tell you. I have found it to be far faster and more stable than normal 32 bit XP. HOWEVER...be prepared to dual boot with an older os just incase there is somethnig that doesnt work.

Overal I would infact recommend you use XP x64

Only trouble is my wireless adapter doesn't have a 64-bit driver yet....darn D-Link! I'm going to have to find one....Any recommendations for x64 ready 802.11g adapters? PCI or PCI-X1?

As for the overclocking, how well is it doing? Did you use the fan included with it?

I bought an OEM processor so i bought the fan and heat sink seperatly from it. It seems to be running quite cool actually. Ideling at 95*F right now and ive seen it up to 123*F when doing some heavy duty stuff.

My old P4 ideled at 120*F and got up to 134*F a lot.
