The Puzzle Thread

Thought i might start this one thread to have the puzzles i post from now on. Here's the first one.
One day a person decided to walk from a place A to B and started at 12 noon. Another person walked from B to A starting at 2.00 PM on the same day. They met at five past four and reached their destinations at the same time.
What time did they both arrive at their destinations?
An easy explanation would really help.

You don't know their speed and a distance between A and B, so they could even arrive at six past four ;)

What about this one?
While traveling from one station to the next, after 1 hour a piston burst. As a result the party could
only proceed at 3/5 their original speed and arrived 1 hour late. If however the accident had
happened 50 minutes later, they would have arrived 40 minutes earlier than the time they did arrive
at. What is the distance between the stations?

12047 end time (seconds), 7078 begin time, span of 4969 seconds. This equals 382.2307 blinks. Now, if you time it perfectly, the first blink starting at the first second, the total equals 383. If you time it badly, it rounds down to 382. There is no way 384 blinks are going to be squeezed in.

If you use daylight savings time, you get to 659.1538 blinks between those times. Just for fun, this probably isn't what they aimed for.

i thought as much. The guy who gave me that answer must have been wrong because i could'nt get 'that' answer either.

now, if you equally distribute that DST offset across the rest you might up the chances to around 40% to get the higher answer, but it doesn't make 384 possible.

wops, sorry for the wrong answer above, I took it wrong. I thought every 13 min. I'm a dummy, and I will never reply to this thread again :P.
My logical thinking sucks ;)
