hmmm... very interesting. I agree for the most part. One thing to note though, is that the use of emoticons to convey your tone can sometimes backfire. For example, you may be writing an agressive response to a message, but decide to lighten the tone through your message by inserting a smiley. This can be a good idea, but at the same time can be seen as sarcastic and only worsen the situation. The best advice that I can offer anyone is read your message several time before you press send. Dont be hasty. I always type my message in notepad before copying and pasting it into the webpage I find that forces me to re-read it more.

Yeah, I write my messages in Notepad too. Though I use it for fixing typos. :P
