Win 98 acting weird...

Post by rwfromxenon »

Ok, this is weird.
I'm running Win 98 on an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processer, with an onboard GeForce 2, with all the updates and drivers... and get this...

The media files, mp3, midi, avi, etc. play at double speed!
How can i fix this problem? I tried Googling, but no help there. Links would be nice, not just a vague reference to Microsoft.

Ah well, I'm off to bed. Too pissed off to sleep, though.

Because my XP CD has been borrowed by my sister, and now it is so scarred, it can't complete installation :-\

Didn't I tell you to brute force-hack your sis 'bout a year ago so she wouldn't do such things anymore ::) Just one small hex editor's all you need.

Anyway, a few good kicks can always slow the pc down (most of the time up to the point of not running at all, but that's a different problem then ;D )

try booting into dos and running a dos game.. is it too fast then?

look into your bios settings and switch to default settings..

it might be a hardware error.

Hmm... I guess it's a flaw in Media Player. Just downloaded RealOne and it's fine now. :)

Get MediaPlayer Classic if you really want a replacement.

RealOne is full of adware, and it's hard to remove it from there...
Use Media Player Classic + Real Alternative + Quicktime Alternative.

It's a Windows multimedia driver misconfiguration. I know this for a fact (I've seen the problem before). Installing different media players wouldn't do anything, nor would running slowdown utilities (not that mo'slo would work for Windows though, heh, that's crazy talk).
