I just got Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition free from someone who didnt know how to work it and stuff so he gave me it. is this a newer one and will it catch newer viruses? i did live update but im not sure if it would still work if its an older virus scan. will it still catch newer viruses? and is this a good virus scanner?

Hi,
If u had done live-update, NAV has probably updated the virus definition files to the latest. I dunno if NAV updates its engine though(I think so it does).
A virus scan depends on its Virus definition files mainly. Though an virus engine update would most probably mean updating to a nicer User interface, better heuristics searches and faster operations. If u havea NAV 2001 or 2002 or even 2000, it might well suffice. Anything older like NAV 2000 badly needs a upgrade though.
So If the virs def. files r updated then any NAV version can virtually catch any newer virus too. And NAV is nice too. ;D

I suppose so.
The current NAV corporate edition is in Version 8.1. So u r somewht ".5" versions back. ;D
Just remember to keep ur virus files updated. U might have to upgrade or change to a newer version when NAV comes with version 9.5 or 10. I dont think they might for another 1 year or so....
. Till then keep updating and u will remain safe.
More Info on NAV and the corporate can be accsesed
here. Have a look at the fact sheet there to find wht ur current version lacks.
