I installed Internet Explorer 5 to my computer just a few minutes ago and when it restarted, the computer stuffed up and Explorer gets an error, and stops me from going any further. I tried going through in Safe Mode and it did the same thing...

Can anybody offer help? Currently, i'm using my old computer, but I need my newer one to do my work with.

Any help will be grateful.

What Windows do you have?

If all else fails, reinstall.

My roommate's computer does that whenever software is installed that has to update the registries or dlls and suchlike. And the problem doesn't go away. It just gets worse and worse. Her solution... to let the computer "nap" for a while, because that always seems to work.

Failing all of that, and you don't have installation disks or a cd-burner, I can give you step-by-step instructions on installing Linux with just a 3.5 floppy.

I got it fixed last night. One of the files was corrupted and I had to extract a new one.

Ah, the power of Google.

Ah well, I remember the times when someone came up to me and said "Hey, I've found an awesome search engine with a really strange name, that looks really funny when it found many results: Goooooooooogle " ::). Google has become a teachers tool to a large extend now, teachers type in a sentence from a student's paper and see which site he got it from .

What's so funny about Google's name? It makes sense you know!

I know googol and googolplex from maths, but what does google stand for? I thought it is funny how the name stretches when there are many results.

Well, Google's just a bastard version of googol.

I thought it was named as in the term... "google eyes". To look at something in a strange way.

Argh! We've got a googol of search results!
