My friend is having this wicked wierd problem. he has windows xp if this matters, but this is what happened:

he hit the restart button on the pc itself for some reason. it rebooted but came up with a black screen. it said what do you want to do or something like that. you can do load windows normally, safe mode, blah blah blah. if he hits enter on one of them, it shows the windows xp symbol like usual and says its loading for a little, then it goes right back to that black screen. he tried the normal one and the safe mode one and it just brings him right back to that screen. so in other words, he cant get into windows xp. why is this happening, and how can he fix it?

Could be virus, computer crash....or he was holding the F8 key, or the CTRL key, those bring up that screen.
