Just thought I would point out that KQ2 VGA has been released. So far the game is awsome and adds alot of stuff to it such as a good plot that was missing from the original. Anyway you can find and download it here:
http://www.tierragames.com/
Warning: 49 MB download!

OH my GOD! Thanks Chris...I probably wouldn't have found out for another month. KQ2 was the first Sierra game I ever played. This should be really cool!

I disagree with this one and King's Quest 1. Why I should download 49 MB when I can get the original with 500kb.
You could tell me that downloading the original game is illegal but making some remakes like King's quest 1 and 2 not from the original company could be illegal too.
It's more like if I make a remake of Boulder Dash with 16 millions colors unstead 16.

Note: Tierra's King's Quest 1 and 2 are not vga because
theses games uses 16 millions of colors not 256.

Well it isn't just a graphic remake, it has better sound, a actual plot to it. And even surprises and differences from the original KQ2. So far the game has been awsome. You should give it a chance and try it, BEFORE you diss it Robin.

Those remakes was made by Sierra. King's quest 1 vga and vga are made by Tierra.
To Chris:
I'm not going to set the fire, just to say I don't like remake games. Even if they are more colours, more sounds, changing some plots like Sierra did with King's quest sci0.
After all, King's quest 2 + is more a remake than a totally new King's quest game. I don't like remakes games but that's all.

Actually Kings Quest 2 has been VERY different from the original. You may have the same objective to find a princess in the tower, but you don't go about getting to that point the normal way. For instance instead of giving king neptune his trident from the beach, you must go to a land filled with shark people and penetrate the shark castle and get the triedent, then you have to do an arcade sequence to get out and use the trident to seal a cave behind you... then Neptune gives you a stone, not a key. You must find all 3 stones then you will be able to get to the land with the tower... trust me the game is alot different than the original was.

I completely agree with Chris...this is SOOOOOO different from the Sierra version. I think they should have started with KQ2 though, I thought doing a fan remake of KQ1 was rather silly, although I did like the Tierra version. I have no problem with remaking a game so long as it is done with skill and some fresh ideas. This appears to have loads of both. The art, sound, and story so far are great. I don't think anyone should slam anything before they try it. I understand your dislike of remakes, but, seriously you should give this a try first, it is REALLY great. Think of it as a dedication to the original KQ, adventure gaming is commercially dead, people like the members of Tierra are making adventure games on par with commercial games, this is a really big deal. If enough people love this then Sierra could very well consider investing in the adventure game market. I also think that KQ1VGA was enough of a success that if Sierra was going to do something about it, they already would have.
