Anyone know of a good web host?

Anyone know of where I can find a free web hosting service that wants little info about me, and doesn't have ads or bandwidth restrictions(after so many megs are downloaded in one month your site becomes unavailible), and at least 5 meg space?
Thanks in advance,
K.J.

I use AOL for my web service. I get unlimited bandwith and no ads unless I put them on the site. The only draw back is you have to be an AOL member. I started out with 2mb but with special offers from AOL I got it to be about 6mb for free.

Well that won't work for me 'cause I'm not an AOL member and I'm not about to become one
. I looked on Yahoo! but most of the places they list have bandwidth restrictions or ads
.

I don't know of many good hosts but there was a post some time ago in a topic called "Time Quest Site Disappeared" or something like that. It is in the AGI & SCI games section. In the topic was a list of good hosts with unlimited bandwidth and no ads. I would look for that thread to see if you can find a good host.

Thanks AGISCI, I found the post
.
Does anyone know if the hosting from
www.port5.com has ads or bandwidth trafic limitations?
Thanks,
K.J.

I am not really sure but there should have been a page that told you all about what each on of those services had.

Well there was, but I found that most of them listed on the page(
www.freebyte.com/freeservices/FreeHomepages.html) seemed outdated because most of the hosts that are listed there that are said to have no ads do have ads
. I found
www.port5.com from another list of free web site hosts. That list didn't say anything about it, just that it offered free web hosting. Port5's site says:
15mb free web space
Colour Statistics
24 Hours FTP Access
Remote backup
Multi Email Forwarding
And I can't seem to find any other info on them.

Maybe you should try visiting a few port5 sites and see if any of them have ads.

godaddy seems to be good one...
There I go with bumping threads, while still knowing that this is 14 years old and that thread author deleted his account.

As the OP has had 14 years to find a good host....

Wow, that's got to be some sort of record.
Oldest thread ever resurrected?

It certainly beats the 8-year old thread that was recently brought back from the dead.

Don't pick GoDaddy, their support is horrendous and the servers are slow. The only good thing they have is Danica Patrick.

And for 1 month, you can now get a CPanel complete expensive domain under 1$ using namespace AND hostgator!
Seriously, i actually got one. And it's not a giveaway, i actually just combined HostGator's CPanel for 0.01$ and namespace's domain for under 1$. And i got a working domain.

I don't see a $0.01 plan on HostGator but it's probably going to be awful for that price.
