When your only answer to helpful criticism is to insult people in a foreign language, I suspect you are beyond help from anyone here.

What do you mean by criticism? Misinterpretation of the word "shell"? "Shell" - this is the user's environment, rather than a CLI or GUIiansjack wrote:When your only answer to helpful criticism is to insult people in a foreign language, I suspect you are beyond help from anyone here.

Shell DOES usually mean a CLI such as Unix Shell (sh) or rather some kind of console.monobogdan wrote:What do you mean by criticism? Misinterpretation of the word "shell"? Edit: insulting people in a foreign language is not constructive -- nearly everyone here is just trying to be helpful.

No, shell means any user environment. See for example "explorer.exe", some of this modules called "shell".ronsor wrote:Shell DOES usually mean a CLI such as Unix Shell (sh) or rather some kind of console.monobogdan wrote:What do you mean by criticism? And lexical, "shell" is "shell". CLI Shell is more correct for sh.

Hi,
Of course if I annoyed the people that were trying to help me, or ignored them, or insulted them; then it would've taken me a lot longer before I started writing a "not bad" OS.
Do you think there's anything that you could do to maximise the rate that your skills improve?
Cheers,
Brendan
I guess few people really know this (it was a very long time ago); but my very first attempt at writing an OS was extremely bad. I don't just mean "bad" (nobody ever writes a good OS their first time); I mean completely crippled, idiotic, dodgy and stupid in a highly embarrassing way. Fortunately (after getting Internet access - it really was a very long time ago) people helped me learn more and learn faster, and so I improved quickly. My second OS was much better (still bad, but not extremely bad). It wasn't until my third or fourth OS that I started doing something decent.monobogdan wrote:Поделитесь своим мнением.

For all things; perfection is, and will always remain, impossible to achieve in practice. However; by striving for perfection we create things that are as perfect as practically possible. Let the pursuit of perfection be our guide.
