What does "aqsa" stand for? I've heard of it only twice, and the first one wasn't in a positive sense.

According to
Wikipedia, "aqsa" stands for "farthest".
There is the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, which is quite OK, but also al-Aqsa (or "second") intifada, not to forget the al-Aqsa martyr brigades.
As such, I find "aqsa" as name for an arabic OS... questionable.

We could as well give it a try instead of bitching about the name, eh? It isn't as if anyone gonna smite bombs here, is it?
I've started it in vmware. It starts fine from floppy. Seems to look for a HDD in order to mount an ext2 partition. FIne.
The commands work. VM86 monitor works too. It's responsible and swift.
FIne Job, lad. Funny thing, your hello program. *gg* is that ascii thing a mosque?
Stay safe.

Hi
Al Aqsa is arabic word mean the farthest. and stands for the name of holy mosque in Palstine Country. and this mosque is the second holy place for the Moslemes people. and we chose this name for our os to be a message from us to the world. and don't care we love the peace and search about it.
the OS is first os with arabic consol and arabic keymap, and have network support and have simple application to make a chat, and test it between Aqsa and Window.
we make arabic fonts by draw arabic characters and put them in the font map in the memory during the loading kernel stage of OS
hello command is appliction draw our holy mosque by the ascii.
do you try the Arabic version ?
this link there are the map for arabic keybaord that we depend on.

tried the arabic version which resulted in a "kernel system halted" message written in reverse (seems like the console turned back to ASCII characters, but kept the right-to-left display ... kinda funny), yellow characters with things about PTE, etc.
<trying again for a snapshot>
Exception 06: invalid opcode
eax=%10x ds=%10x cr0=%10x pse=%10x
... all values just display as "x01%" (read left-to-right)
then it says "!detlah metsys :cinap lenrek" and loops again ^_^
Bochs has no arabic characters support, so it's pretty useless ...

booted fine on my AMD-K6-II system, but yet i'm unable to read/write arabic ... i figured i could try to find on the welcome stuff how "help" is invoked but i miserably failed at even re-typing any word of the output...
Yet basic line edition seemed nice.

well, i'd say that the actual problem is that, unlike what i hoped, i just can't find the associations between what's shown on the screen and what's to be typed. Even if there were arabic characters on the keyboard and just the word "help" on screen, i'm unsure that i'd be able to type it back ...
A bit like if you don't know anything about latin characters and have to type back something that's in lowercase onscreen with an uppercase keyboard ...

Well, for
my part the comments on the name were constructive criticism, not "bitching" about it.
As long as mar-rih is
aware that "Aqsa" might result in all the wrong associations, and decides to keep the name regardless, that's OK with me.
I think Mitsubishi would have been happy if someone had pointed out the meaning of "Pajero" to them
before they shipped to the Spanish / latin american market.

Somebody did:
Mitsubishi Pajero, Montero
Mitsubishi had to rename its Pajero automobile because the word is a vulgar term for a masturbating man.
This story is true, although there was no blunder involved because the car was marketed under a different name from the beginning. In Spanish-speaking countries, this model has been sold as the Montero.
