I am setting up sendmail to be my SMTP server on my computer I want it to beable to send and recieve any type of email.
i.e I want it to be wide open null senders ,....anything goes.

I thought adding FEATURE(promiscuous_relay) would do it but it didn't.
I did a port scan with zenmap and it said the port 25 was open but sendmail is not accepting mail.
When I telnet to 192.168.1.100 I can send mails to anybody that has an email account on this server 192.168.1.100.
But I want to have it so sendmail can send anybody an email from this server and recieve an email from this server from anybody else.

Am I missing something to comment out in this mc when I add the FEATURE(promiscuous_relay)

here is my sendmail.mc

I presume you are running this on a home connection?

Then even if you configure it, it is not going to work. Many mail servers use the Spamhaus Policy Blacklist, which blocks all mail from netblocks who's owners say should not be sending mail.

This includes the IP ranges used for home connections.

The correct thing to do in your case is either use your ISP's SMTP server, or someone else's. In either case, you could setup your local mail server as a smarthost pointing to one of them.

However, I have a second and more important issue for you:

Sendmail? SENDMAIL?! Are you mad?! Sendmail's security track record is so lackluster I wouldn't touch it with a 2kilometer long pole! Seriously, use Postfix.

Ok ,

But I thought open relay will allow me to relay emails to any server.

Anyway I have dynamic dns setup so I have my own host name.

I will try postfix if that is a more secure choice howerver I still want the ability to relay mail of the internet,
I know their is a way of setting it up to do this???
