Hi All,
I have been working on a small kernel development.
A very basic 32 bit protected mode microkernel kernel with basic implementations..
1.Paging
2.A file system
3.Multitasking
4.etc
Uptill now I am ready with the framework with all startup asm code.
I am have been learning lots of things and wants to learn, I know I may sound like a newbie coz that is a fact, so if someone who is like me and wants to learn ,learn and learn while developing....I am willing to give my full time for this project coz I have to finish this(at least the most basic) in quick time.
So anyone who is interested please PM me on skype

Rest we can discuss on everything after we meet on skype.
Looking positive.
Cheers!!

@Solar:Thanks for your points
I already have been working on it for the past 4 months(full time).
This is not a very ambitious one kind of kernel as the main reason of me doing it to learn as we most of the beginners do.So careful attention is being paid on its complexity level to restrict that to be minimal.
"Years to develop" I believe a very basic kernel wont take years to develop(with intermediate skillsets).
"Even the more successful projects usually consist of one, perhaps two people actually working on the code"
Even I need only one person who matches my skillset level,We both can help each other to transcend each other skillsets and moreover can help to motivate each other throughout the project.
The kernel would be a kernel framework(the best example is jameM's kernel) not a full fledged one.
If somebody who has very basic skillset level and a starter in OS development, you are most welcome.

Re: I need a partner
Doesn't skype cost money? I'm on XMPP if you want to get a gmail account and talk there..
Tell us more than "a kernel framework"..
Does this mean drivers? What about up and coming 64bit stuff? How will it be booting? Will this just be a big static library?
There needs to be a lot more information than what you put here..

How about you find out first instead of making yourself look stupid (in case you're lazy: Prices)?Doesn't skype cost money?

eh.. I'm still not getting an account lol.. I've never heard of skype as a common internet way to communicatepcmattman wrote:How about you find out first instead of making yourself look stupid (in case you're lazy: Prices)?Doesn't skype cost money?

Then you didn't listen closely enough.earlz wrote:I've never heard of skype as a common internet way to communicate
The usual philosophical disputes about Skype using a proprietary protocol set aside: it's the "default" solution for VoIP.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.

Re: I need a partner
A 'skype' client isn't available for every operating system, recently they announced that their crippled Linux GUI would become open[sic] source.. but it'll ship with a binary-blob network module keeping their protocol specifications under wraps.
XMPP or SIP based VoIP are more viable communications protocols, and they both have been widely adopted.
I like earlz have never used 'skype' nor until recently even heard of it, mostly whenever some idiot says "skype" me without thinking of the inability of some to do so.

Re: I need a partner
Yes.. all of that plus I wouldn't really want to talk to anyone over the internet with voice.... I prefer the old "text-based" way... (yes I'm aware there is skype IM, but really.. whats the point?)Brynet-Inc wrote:A 'skype' client isn't available for every operating system, recently they announced that their crippled Linux GUI would become open[sic] source.. but it'll ship with a binary-blob network module keeping their protocol specifications under wraps.

ANYWAY! back on topic..
If you would like to pm me or something and then we can exchange emails or something to talk about this in a more direct manner.. but I think sharing some more info about your project would encourage more people to take a look..
