Hi all
i have been google(ing) for a calculator like the windows 7 edtion.
I have however not found anyone with the same abillty, witchs can run on win xp.
so my quistion is very simple:
does any one know how i evt. can port the 7 edtion, or another one. ( one feature i realy need, is the binary view all the time, and able to change just with a click)

Out of curiosity (I haven't seen the win7 version), what's wrong with the XP calculator in Scientific mode (with it's hex, oct, binary views) ?

there is nothing wrong with the xp's
but after trying the win 7 edtion, you will know what i mean. IT is so easyer when working at a bit level.

Darn, I had tried to install Win7, but I don't own any computers with more than 484MB. Well, I do, but that computer contains data which I cannot legally overwrite at the moment; VirtualBox won't let me give Win7 enough RAM to install on that comp either.

That does look kinda cool

A couple of thoughts:

1. Is the Win98 ("Classic") theme still available? I find it elegant and simple.

2. Does the Win7 EXE not run on XP? With such a (relatively) simple app, perhaps they
used the same API we've had to "suffer" with since Win95 (or earlier [NT?], but my age puts
a limit on my memory of early systems).

Yeah, Win7 is pretty awesome. I think the calculator looks a lot like that of Mac OS X.

That has always been the case for Microsoft's GUI

the problem is that it does not even run on vista ( the win 7 calc)
so it uses something else ( winxp says: It is not a legael win 32 program) [even if i use 32 bit win 7]

i might do some decompiling, but i dont think i cant mange to make it work under xp ...

install kde4 for windows, it have kcalc and many other useful tools

This is a forum made up of programmers.. write your own calculator and include features that just you would want!

I've always thought about doing this.. then I discovered Mathematica.

I love it's optimisation features, you can pass it huge formulas and it'll simplify (or retarget) them. You can also plot values onto graphs (2D/3D - which multiple scalars, plus as many tweakable variables as you'd like), generate sounds, make complex custom GUI forms based on algorithms (its even possible to make games, though it'll be interpreted slowly).
