people hitting your car with their door

I wanted to ramble about stupid people who can't be bothered to hold their car door while they get in.

I was at a computer shop yesterday and watched an older couple get in their car. The lady (driver) opens her door, sits down and puts something in her center console, while her door swings open and hits my suburban. I FREAKED! I went outside and yelled at her and her husband to watch what the f*** they're doing. Then that old bat had the nerve to say my truck was a piece of crap and she wasn't responsible for it. Okay, so my suburban is old and ugly, but that doesn't give her the right to hit it. So I asked her if she would mind if I hit her car with one of my 50lbs doors. HAHAHA.. lol, she kind of got the idea at that point and shut the hell up. So she left while her sissy husband just stood there, not even trying to defend his wife.

But really, a couple times a year I've either been sitting in one of my six vehicles and bam, some idiot hits mine with their door... like damn, wake the F*** up people!

I think from now on I'm not going to hold my door when I get in or out, apparently I'm not responsible for what I do.

I would not sacrifice personal kindness, even if alot of other people have.

If people were running around shooting each other, would you give up your moral standpoint and start shooting as well? I'd hope not.

That sucks about your truck too. lol.

I think you're overreacting just a bit. Calm down, have a cup of tea, and get a blog.

@Alboin:
Underreacting is just as bad. Should I just walk away while my doors get all banged up. I also own a camaro and fixing this stuff isn't cheap. I've watched people fling there doors open, hitting another car and putting a good dent in it, then they look around, and walk away as if nothing happened. Sorry, but I think having a cup of tea isn't going to encourage that person to think about what they're doing next time.

@01000101:
I doubt I would ever give up my moral standpoint. There's no reason why I should stoop to the level of these people and just become another ignorant @$$ who everybody hates. (So don't worry, your cars are safe from my doors).

I'd go for the cup of tea.

Together with the insurance forms :twisted:

Hmm... now that I think about it, I should just ask them for the cash to fix it. Once some guy rear ended me and pushed my car right into an intersection. He ended up just giving me a bunch of cash because he didn't want his insurance rates to go up.. that was sweet.
:lol:

Muhahahaha...

Anyways, yeah, people are @$$holes sometimes. But you have to live with it. Idiots don't change.

And if people started running around shooting each other, I'd hide in the basement until I finished my overcharged electron cannon and wipe them out. [/scifidream]

How close are you parking to these people? If it happens to you that often, I'm inclined to think that you're doing something wrong...

I can see about getting all fired up over a dent of some sort, but for the most part, that would require the opener of the door to use excessive force. If the door simply knocks the car, leaves no scratches, and was an accident of the wind or something, then there really is no reason to go nuclear over it.

May I suggest some sencha?

What is sencha? I think a frappacino is in order, god I love those. Just wish I knew how to make them at home. And yes, I do know how to park. Why does it seem like your harping on me Alboin? Are you related to my wife?

Recommendation: No Sencha. Its like sewage water.

Unless Alboin was hoping on some side-effect of serving that :wink: *ducksandruns*

Why should he? You basically said yourself that what she said was indefensible. :twisted:

Elderly couple enter car. They accidentally hit your suburban with a car door. You freak out. Start yelling at them.

No offense, but your first post makes you sound like a jerk with a big macho car.

What!? My God! I love sencha. Seriously. Maybe you're brewing it too long?

That was at the local tea shop. I did *not* brew that myself, just wanted to try it.

Bad idea :(

I was doing to say this is the whole reason I (usually) park far way from everyone else. A little bit of walking never hurt anyone.

But that didn't help. I remember sitting in my truck once, waiting for my wife while she was shopping. Some guy in a brand spankin' new BMW pulls into the spot next to me (despite the fact there were plenty of other available spots) and BAM! hits my truck with his car door. I looked at him and he started to yell at me, so I got out of my truck to see how bad it was. The guy was so close to my truck he COULDN'T have opened his door without hitting mine, in fact he was over the line into MY spot. Anyway, he expected me to give him my insurance information or give him cash to fix his door, which now was lacking paint on the end of it. Nevermind about the dent on my truck or the white paint mark from his door. I said I'd happily give him my insurance information if he also gave me his, which he refused. So I said I'd just call the cops then, but since this was in a parking lot the dispatcher refused to send out an officer, grr.

The guy didn't let up, and started to get really irate. Finally I asked the guy if he'd mind if I put a nice big dent in his brand new car like he just did to my truck, and all he said was "fsck off" and started to walk away. Now, I certainly wasn't going to use my truck door to put a dent in his car door and leave paint behind, but my boots worked just as well. The guy never turned around as he continued walking away to head into a store, and my wife showed up shortly after. We were long gone before that guy ever returned. I ended up fixing the dent in my door myself, and the paint mark buffed right out. I'll admit what I did was completely wrong and I never should have done it.

I've been in that same truck when the same thing happened a second time, but the person who did it immediately apologized and offered me cash to fix it, which I didn't accept. To be fair, that time their door was caught by wind and it wasn't their fault, but they still felt responsible.

Sometimes, sh*t happens. But most often, it's careless people who have no respect for the property of others, or other people at all.

Well I did feel like a jerk later on... :lol: because I am normally a nice guy.

As for the sencha.. I think I have had that at a restaurant before.. i only took a sip because I was really there for the sushi. I even tried some saki (spelled right?) but i couldn't get into that either.
