Slovak National Uprising

Today it's the 64th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising, the day when our army with partisans fought against Nazi Germany. The uprising was suppressed after two months, but guerilla warfare (partisans) still fought in woods and with assistance of Soviet Red Army, we were liberated from Nazis.

Unfortunately, Soviets did invade us later in 1968 but we swept them out in 1989 without using violence. Today, we are fully democratic state.

There are many movies today from 1950, documenting the uprising. I like history and especially from World War II.

First Nazi's, then Soviets. To live in eastern Europe after WW2 and during the Cold War must have been tricky...

I bet it would, thank God I was born in 1993.

There has been media censoring in the soviet era, secret police and all that stuff you can imagine, such as taking innocent people, especially richer, beating them to death or throwing them out of the window, if they didn't keep their mouth shut and wanted to cripple the communist regime. After the totality many people said that Nazists weren't that hostile, some say the opposite. Neither communists nor fascists, I dislike them.
