80's

Just were googling about closer history and such... and found some advertising and commercials back from 80's. Also from Czechoslovakia. When you compare ads from these days... well maybe it isn't a big difference in US, but on how it was here I must really laugh.

Everything was so "united" that days. For example the general store had it's name "Jednota", which means "unity". And yes, I'm talking in singular, there weren't much general stores with a different name. When you wanted to buy shoes, you did go in a store called "SHOES", and I've read and seen photos back from the communist era (1968-1989), where you had to wait IN LINE early mornings to buy meat. - http://www.komik.cz/obrazky/2896-fronta-na-maso/

A "communist" CD player

Reading from it's title: "The portable record (CD) or a digital phonograph can be used to (blah blah). ... ... BTW it was a bit expensive, the price tag was almost 10 000 Kčs (compare that a ordinary worker earned 1000 kčs each month...)

Good grief. Thank God I was born in '93.

Anyways, for the older part of this forum: how did you like the 80s?

I was born in late '91, so I can't talk about it, but you do realise that all your links just go back to http://www.komik.cz/ ....

WOW, that computer looks fairly powerful  ...
Should use it as my main machine (Probably not x86 based though...)

 Seems that it supported networking and floppy drives... :) but you needed a external videomonitor. Seems to be a hybrid of x86 (judging from keyboard style) and Commodore.

//EDIT: Look at the back of it... "LAN" with a BNC connector, "MONITOR" looked like EGA's connector and RS 232, which is the serial port, uses there the DB-25 standard, which older modems in IBM PC used. The seller did include a B&W monitor. :)
BTW it contains a Z80 processor and it's 8-bit. I couldn't find more information.

Why would the keyboard style tell you what architecture it uses? (or do you mean stylistically it looks it looks like a PC/commodore hybrid?)

Well if you compare the older Czechoslovak 8-bits like PMD-85 and IQ 151 with the JZD Slušovice one... :)I thought it was 16-bit.

Yes, like that.
