A Good Day

I am having a good day!
I just got into AP Computer Science in school, and I got the shipping confirmation for the Intel manuals! Yay!

SO....that's it really....
I would have taken the computer programming course,but it's name is a lie: It's only really an intro to simple things. Computer Sci is where we actually learn a language. Sophomore taking computer Science is rare, but I'm doin it. Wasn't to hard, really, I just had to write a simple program.

How's everyone else's day goin?

Not to squash your fun, but from the wikipedia article on the AP CS course description:
Responsible use of computer systems
* System reliability
* Privacy
* Legal issues and intellectual property
* Social and ethical ramifications of computer use
:lol:

Have fun though. <sarcasm> Learning Java should be g..r..e..a..t, and the cooperate propaganda should be awesome too.</sarcasm>

[sarcasm]lol[/sarcasm]

Wikipedia is incorrect, as I talked to the teacher about what is in there, and there is no ethicsness.

And I don't know java, so yes, learning it will be good.
What do you mean by cooperate propaganda?

Ah, yes I can see it now: "You must NEVER, EVER copy ANYTHING. If you do, you will kill puppies. Fair use law DOES NOT apply when it comes to computers, because we are money hungry pigs. Also, you may never use this list of patented algorithms, <insert 200 page list of patented algorithms>, because, well, we like to screw with people. That is all, here's your diploma. Have a good day."

Well, intellectual property doesn't mean anything, and algorithms shouldn't be patented so I'll use them anyway.
Now what cooperations are be promoted?

Large industries always have groups that look after their interests and promote them. (Think the tobacco industry 40 years ago.) Large computer and other media type companies are no different. They have people look after their interests in Congress, marketing, and even try to spread rumors and other such propaganda at all levels to simply sell their product.

I'd bet that if there was such material as wiki suggested, that it came from said companies as it has no actual relation to CS at all, and is, in fact, BS.

Well, this course doesn't include your quoted material.
Even if it does, I'm sure I can distinguish it.

Congratulations then, piranha :-)

Java's fun. No, really. Okay..... so I don't like it :-)

I'm currently studying Java at uni. Also studying a "Computer Organisation" unit as present, which has a fair bit of number theory, boolean algebra and 68k asm. All I can say is I look forward to getting away from Java and doing the C/C++/Operating Systems units ;-)

1) Why are you calling me a hippy?
2) So, if I had an idea how to do something, it becomes mine? Thats stupid.

you're being called a hippy because you disregarded the serverity of Intellectual Property in your earlier post. Although, hippy probably isn't the best deffinition as I know alot of hippies that take IP seriously because they have come up with an idea or two worth patenting or protecting.
