You won't find *decent* free hosting. I pay for mine - I pay my ex-housemate for ssh access to his server. Very useful, because I can run literally whatever scripts I like.

frih.net is decent, and x10hosting.com is good as well.

I use webzdarma.cz (wz.cz, xf.cz, tym.sk, zaridi.to etc). They offer PHP, MySQL, e-mail address, 50-150 MB of free space (the site is ad supported though, but i've selected only single small ad on the first page, portixos.xf.cz - the "Redirecting" page). hostujem.sk is also good - 1000 MB of free space, mysql 5, php5, ftp access, but you need to provide their advertising (or your site will be deleted). They are in czech/slovak though...

Well anyways you can try phpnet.us or funpic.de ;)

I've tried many free hosting sites, only to find out that they're unreliable at best.

Since the last free host closed down, I dedicated one of my own boxes to webhosting. And of course, with that I got 40GB of disk space and all the software I could be bothered to install on it.

Given that the rent includes the electrical bill and i have DSL without limit, I'd consider this method free just as well.

I used to have a site on Justfree.com. It's a good host but they don't (or didn't) allow uploading of files other than images, scripts, text, etc.

I used to have a website on leadhoster, but i've neglected it for around 6 months now, and it's still up
They provide 250 MB space, PHP, FTP access, e-mail, and only put ads on the control panel, not on your site.

I have my own paid-for website now...

I don't understand all this: "i'm looking for free hosting" fuzz. You can get very good hosting for very little money. I't like: "ok, I'll smoke one cigaret less a day." or: "I'm not gonna buy that burger." etc. That "free" hosting for you.

Today webspace is bundled with virtually every ISP contract, at least hereabouts...!?!

I've found most free hosting to be rubbish, and that to get good hosting you have to pay. There are many extremely cheap hosting providers out there. I'm paying a bit more to get a VPS with Slicehost, $20 (~£10) per month, wonderful service and reliability.
