Hey all, I've decided to take another CompTIA exam, this time for either the L+ or N+. I'm split between the two, and was wondering if there were any advantagous reasons to take one over the other?

I voted Network+, I don't know what it is, I guess it's general as knowledge, not just Linux, which is good too, but is less useful in an environment where there's windows bsd etc.

Same thing here. Networking knowledge is generic and can be applied to any platform. Linux+ would make sense only if you know you want to specialize in the area of Unix'ish environments (and pretty worthless if the rest of your resume shouts "Windows!" at the reader).

I didn't think CompTIA certs carried much if any weight.

I am not voting, but when working with networking it is allmost certain that linux will be involved sooner or later, so it might be worth considering the linux way...

If CompTIA certs don't carry much weight, then what certs do?

If you have money for the certification ( does it cost money?) and you can't find any better, that means your futur employer didnt find any better certification either, and will take your certification seriously if you show you passed it. It's always better to pass + than one certification than only one? if there's more than one? There's also the view that certification are here to make money for the certification makers and youre better to show your competencty tp your future hirer originaly.
