Hey, just out of curiosity, are any of you accredited OpenSource developers? I've been thinking about joining the Fedora Project as a developer (in my free time) and maybe contribute a few device drivers or something. Have any of you done anything like this? if so, share your experience please.
Thanks.

My thoughts on Fedora and the like is that companies like Red Hat must think they are on to a good thing if they can get hobbyists to do for free what they would otherwise have to pay someone to do.
Just massage their ego a bit, and tell them they will have their name up in lights, and you don't have to pay your workforce a penny. Bur perhaps I am just being cynical.

after my recent encounter with FC8, I no longer wish to help them out, they need more than some "free labor".

Rather than complaining about it, have you considered sending them a bug report about it? If you don't tell them about it, it's less likely to get fixed.

Already done. I sent a hardware profile to them and previous issues that I have had with FC.
