about recieving praise.

Im not sure "praise" is the right word here, but it should work out.

What im interested in is when you recieve undeserved praise, that is according to your own standards. How do you handle that?
I my self have kind of a hard time with it, fx. the code i posted in: http://www.osdev.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... sc&start=0 got the respons "That's pretty neat :) " and though it should feel nice, i really get annoyed instead because its something which i spend 5 minutes doing and wasn't hard at all. I guess i subconsciously think that people are talking down to me, in a way that one does to a child who has made a drawning which, you honestly feel more like burning that stick on your refrigirator. Stil you go "That's pretty neat :) "

Me feeling this way allso makes me respond with somehing like "Well thanks, but it is nothing really." which could be interpeted the exact same way as i interpeted the previous respons, and im sad to say that it probably wouldn't be a complete misinterpetation.

This is something which often bothers me and then i have to ask my self "what wrong with me?"

So what are your though and experiences?

You won't be "recieving" praise for your spelling, and that's for sure.

Really? You sound more like a native speaker who's too lazy to type correct sentences.

A complement, I guess. ;)

Wow! You spell very well dude! I'm in total shock.. Absolutely amazing! :D

Seriously though, Why do you keep starting these useless topics? If someone gives you praise.. accept it and move on, if they point and laugh.. duke it out like the rest of us.

This was fun... :)

now thats a serious, though somewhat hurtfull, response. Why i keep starting these useless topics? Fiirst of all i don't find them useless, i acutally think its a serious issue, for me anyway. Maybe im the only one who have these issues, and if thats the case, well so be it, but if not, i think its worth talking about. Anyway, this is posted in generel ramblings, so take it or leave it.

About my english, i havent studied the language much, however i do spend 90% of my time or so writing in various forums on the net, so i have some experience.

True, but would you go to some... comic book forum, and talk about kitties.. just because you found a "general" section?

I think not.

Complement <> compliment. And I'm not a native speaker.

Haha wow, are you really getting upset on the internet? Grow a pair and learn to take some criticism.

Also, acting ridiculously melodramatic (e.g. I'm crying because of all the mean peoples' text, boo hoo) generally makes you look like either you've got Aspergers or you're ten years old and haven't been beaten enough.

It's like me, my OS is the best well done thing in the world, do I raise praise for that?
Sometimes, the easiest things are the most memorable, it's like saying "thank you".
