All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.
I got a midi keyboard for xmas and it hooks to the comp through USB and I have the drivers setup correctly and I can verify there is input though the windows midi device, but I have yet to find a program that simply turns the midi input into sound, so far the software it came with is far to complex for my needs ( live 6 ) and all other programs record the midi input and do crazy things. So i was just wondering if any of you know of a simple program that I can just select an instrument and start playing?
I use the midi orchestrator for all those things. However, its commercial and dated to windows 95. It still works though
I got it with my Soundblaster 64 card back then

Orchestrator does it
Why not write your own?

I have thought of writing my own, but when I started looking in to the windows midi specification in c and i got scared , and I keep looking for a program and found 100+ programs but all are far far to complicated or are really stupid and hard to use, so i presume it is really easy to write midi programs in "VisualBacon++6.0.net for vista TM", unfortunately i don't want to learn a silly language
