Ok, so I saw this weird project in most active projects...
https://sourceforge.net/projects/simpledirectory/

Ok, this has an activity percentile of 99.01

Code: Select all

Date (UTC) Rank Total Pages 1 Downloads Project Web Hits Tracker opened (closed) Forum Posts
25 Dec 2007 * N/D 57 1,769 1 0 (0) 0
24 Dec 2007 2,016 1,506 68,598 62 0 (0) 0
Ok, now do those make sense? 62 project web hits, but 66,000+ downloads!?

Yea, and then aside form that, how is it 99.01? there are like 8 posts in the forum, less than 20 in the website forum, there is no CVS access, no news, last news entry on his website was 11-04-07, and just...yea..

someone care to explain how all that can happen?
How the crap do people download over 60,000 more than pages they request? I looked through other most-downloaded projects, and they had nothing like this, their pages requested was almost always higher than downloads, and if it wasn't, then it was close(plus or minus 1000)

direct link to download page on a forum maybe?

the hit counter could only count homepage hits =\

or someone rigged it with an auto-downloader

No, their stats are really messed up, they're not rigged, but I remember there was an announcement on the home page talking about it, I wonder how they're judging how active a project is right now.
