i am on windows xp sp2 and i downloaded the Visual Studio express 2008 C++ setup file, and after i ran it it said that my version of windows was not supported, but that only XP and Vista were supported. im am confused by this because i am running XP but VS says that im running an earlier version.... any idea why?

Perhaps you're using a pirated version of Windows XP?

If it still installs then that just means that if you try and email Microsoft then they might not help you. I had XP home and it said that and it still installed and worked just fine (2005 express version.) I think it is actually looking for professional.

Hm...
I never had that problem with 2005 EE. If 2008 beta fails to install, try using 2005 EE instead until either the next beta of 2008, or first non-beta release.

Erm ... the final VC++ 2008 is released already.
