2. Adobe Reader - reading hardware datasheets is so much easier on a computer instead of a hard copy
3. Medal of Honor Pacific Assault - need I say more? Does this count?

- Visual C++ (currently version 8.0/2005 express) - It may only support Windows, but it's a great IDE!
- Mozilla Firefox - I need to surf the web.
- Gaim - I need to talk to my friends.
Also a worthy mention: 3DS Max, Photoshop, and Paint .net.

Did you get VC++ to compile your kernel???Or is it just the IDE part that you are using?

3. G++/GCC -> makes programming significantly easier
4. xmms -> can't program in silence
5. gs -> for the stuff I haven't committed to memory.
Somewhere below this is X and x-based programs.

I can't pick the top 3 applications I use for development work, most of the basic string manipulation utilities are "very" helpful.
For the time I spend in X-land, I use Mozilla Firefox.. Gaim(With pidgin backports.. ) and aterm.
