That site was considerably fun to look at..

Thank you.. I was in dire need to laugh at something. :lol:
His site wrote:The SHANOS operating system is our current project here at Yoctosoft. SHANOS features are:
* repairs itself
* built in email
* internet access
* compatible with windows programs
* very secure
* no security pop-ups- everything is automated
* includes an autosetup command that does systems setup for you
* loads your favorite programs automatically every time you turn on your computer
* patches and drivers AUTOMATICALLY downloaded
* download background displays for your homescreen FREE
* free web hosting (with email, games, etc.)
* all personal info is encrypted in our private databases, all of which are extremely secure
* Yoctosoft servers help your computer make critical decisions with your system - without bothering you

Yoctosoft is now designing AIBS (artificial intelligence based servers), which connect to your computer automatically, download updates and patches automatically, repair errors automatically, create backup files automatically, and everything you ever wanted- yeah, that's right- automatically
I'm not sure what in this description scares me the most.. But the "AIBS" thing sounds illegal, And impractical.. :roll:

This user really should get into theoretical marketing or something lol..

:? Is that necessary? Although, this is the nth thread to read something like this.

I think we need to display a message when you sign up for the forum:
Osdev takes a long time. It is not something you can simply whip up in Windows in a week. There is a 92% chance you will never reach the stage of having a semi useful command prompt that can use GNU tools. You will become disgruntled, frustrated, and unmotivated. You will not be able to run Windows programs or any other executable types for a long time, if at all. You can not use any external libraries or programs. You cannot use C# or Java. (Except in extreme circumstances.) You must know the programming language you are writing your OS in.
Or do you think this will scare people away? :twisted:

Hey I'm not trying to scare anyone away, but seriously.. read over the pages on his site.

Can't you see the humour in it all?.. :lol:

Like "SHANOS 96"? :P and then "SHANOS Extreme" with "IPSP (Impregnable Systems Project)"

Oh no, don't be mistaken, I agree with you. It's just that I prefer to be a little less harsh.

Can run all Windows programs
Heck, Windows can't even run some Windows programs.

ReactOS is the closest an open source effort has gotten to running Windows programs, and they're still asking for as much help as possible.

Hate to tell, but I don't like "automatic" operating systems.

Automatically repairs errors - ... :lol:

Automatically downloads patches and updates - If I have a time-limited net connection and your OS will connect to the Internet to download some silly updates all by automation,.... SHANOS will generate automatically a big phone bill. Not to mention one thing, that you may include a spying mechanisms that will collect secret information from users of your OS (I am only saying, dont take it really serious...); like Windows XYZ in all versions of Windows Update does...

Automatically creates the backups - Another lol, because ...

I have to agree with you. It is so funny... and unrealistic - that is because I dont like "the fully automated systems" idea.... :mrgreen:

Are you making an OS or a webbrowser?

At least everyone on ripped on his unrealistic idea of features... you can't just make up lies about his system based upon other people's bad judgements.

"Easy to use commands"

Ah well, that at least is one thing Linux could usefully borrow from SHANOS. If even one line of it has actually been written that is.

Networking (and Internet)
Can run all Windows programs
Can repair itself
No spyware or viruses
Easy to use commands
Colorful (not green or black)
:shock: Fantastic! I want it! :roll:

No spyware or viruses
So I will be the first human, that has programmed a virus, for SHANOS operating system ! :twisted: :lol:
It can be really easy - hook to a keyboard handler a "INT XYZ" line somewhere. 0 <= XYZ => 0xFF. :) GPF in every keypress, cool? 8) :D At least if SHANOS is in pmode (if SHANOS wants to be really colorful and "repairing itself",.... I guess so)

j/k... :)

ummm...no

that is just a joke of a design...much less for having to program that!

Start with something just a bit smaller...and I don't like when computers try to outsmart the user...I'm already sick of it in Vista..(it has yet to find a solution to my programs crashing..lol)

i'll delete this site
