I was bored. :D (note... this is kind of about me...)

So you wanna be an OSDev star...
Well, listen now, to what I write...
Just get an compiler,
Then learn how to code and learn it right!

And when you've been up all night
And your're not thinkin' right,
it's gonna be alright.

Then it's time for mega-tokyo
Where the F-A-Q will let you know
And so you're led to some web page
With five large tomes on protected mode

And in a week or two
If your code works right,
"Hello, world!" in black behind white!

The things that you learned about VGA
The little bugs that drove you really insane
The time that you spent, and the girlfriends that went
Don't forget what you are, you're an OSDev star!

That sums up in two lines why my OS isn't that much progressing... esp. the first.

Let's hope the subject of the previous paragraph doesn't read this :P

Speaking of OSDev games...Wasn't there an OSDev contest held in the past by osdever.net?

You probably mean the bonafide code wars ? From what I know there just wasn't enough participation so that the competition never really took off. In my opinion OS development is just way too complex and time-consuming for such short-term coding contests.

gaf, or then we still do not have tools good enough for that. ;)

Yeah gaf, I was thinking of the BonaFide Codewars. I entered to compete but never ended up doing anything. There was quite a bit of interest in the contest but nothing ever really happened. Maybe people would be a little more motivated if there was some "cha-ching" involved. :D
