Sounds fun!

Chainloading, as in multiple sectors? Not allowed.

Code: Select all

Chainloading, as in multiple sectors? Not allowed.
No, not for the OS itself. All of its code is in the 512-byte MBR. It can chainload other OSes if they are installed, but it doesn't require anything to be on the disk to run (other than the MBR).

Dex: Thanks, good luck!
Ghost: Sorry to hear that, the next one will probably be still one sector, but might be a protected or long mode CD sector for more room and intense coding!

Hmmm... What is the prize? Free code exclusively licensed to the winner with no copyright notices?

sounds good, but there are many people here who already have the knowledge and background in osdev and programming, i dont know if it will be worth it for them, but its a start :)

sounds great, can i be a judge, btw i can help you write programs. i will judge by what it can do and if its features are very unique and cool in a way, as in what the os does.
