TBH, you've managed to pick all the bits that I wasn't completely happy with. But I also see this first issue as an experiment in relation to those points: I wasn't sure how many columns to have, what size they should be, etc. Any input on the matter is greatly appreciated, as it will make the next issues even better.
The look of the columns depends a lot on whether you print it out or not... for an on-screen only magazine, a single column might have been better, with the larger font size. For a print magazine, you would definitely have 3 or even 4 columns, and a smaller font size. Since I was designing for both, I got stuck in the middle, and got it wrong. Sorry 'bout that. :S
I'm about to start work on some new templates for the next issue, so any input now will make everything easier in the future.
And of course, more articles is always good!

Re: should we create an OS development magazine?
I think there are at most, maybe 1,000 people on planet Earth who are actually knowledgeable enough for any kind of OS work. From what I've heard, in order to run a magazine and not lose any money, you would have to find lots of advertisers or get lots of readers and start charging them a subscription fee which wouldn't get us far.
What I suggest we do is either, (a) stay on this site and forget about making an OS Dev magazine, or (2) come up with another idea for a magazine.
Though, if actual work on this magazine does start, I'd love to help.

I think people were talking about a "e-magazine", talk of the matter seems to have ended.. at least on the forums.daBKLYNdoorman wrote:I think there are at most, maybe 1,000 people on planet Earth who are actually knowledgeable enough for any kind of OS work. Personally, I don't like the idea.. offers nothing of interest...
Note: This thread has been quiet since June, probably should have let it R.I.P...

@ imate900:
A riddle for you.
Read the last two posts again. Both contain a hint.

Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.
