should we create an OS development magazine?

All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

I'll aim to complete the website by end of next weekend (have another website to do this week).

I think yes. I send my (poor) article on fat12. not as good as what I saw on brokenthorn and the wiki. But I think it has enough data to help implementing something. :D

Yes, it is still happening. @jerryleecooper, it's a bit incomplete, but still good. We also decided that the 5th of May we will release the first issue. More articles would be welcome.

If you do decide to write an article and need to bounce ideas around or get stuck with information, PM me and I'll try and help you.

Thanks I might just take advantage of that in the future (time is in short supply right now), but on that subject, would it be a good idea with a forum, either here or at system-call.org, for that purpose?

I'm not quite sure. Sure it could be a great help for the writers, but it would probably have to be a public forum as anyone can try out as a writer, thus anyone can read what is written at the forum and get a "sneak peek" at the contents of the magazine.

I'm not sure whether it would be a problem nor am I sure if this is at all a good idea, just wanted to throw the idea to you.

At this point in time, a forum is probably a waste. Almost the entire writing populace so far is on this forum. Email and IM are much better forms of communication, and the time required to maintain a forum is going to subtract from the time spent actually doing anything. In the future however, I can see it becoming a necessity.

And yes, we do need articles.

Hi,

Is the magazine dead?
articles must be in by the end of Easter Sunday, GMT
This is a bit long ago now and the website is still empty, so I wonder whether the magazine is dead.

Ha ha, it was an unrealistic deadline. Articles are being finished and proofread right now, and I have the next week off from work to put the thing together.
