That was the post before yours. I hadn't seen yours!
No need to be mean!

They influence each other equally. One cannot exist without the other.

zaleschiemilgabriel wrote:James, I respect you so I do not expect anything from you. I understand that you think yourself superior because you wrote a tutorial that helps lots of people here, and you are (the tutorial helped me a lot too), but I want to do things a bit different, not be a copy-cat.
Also I think that what you said before about me instigating everybody also applies to you. If you keep calling me a troll, that's what I'll become!
I'm going to reply to this then let it lie.

I do not think myself superior to anyone. I look up to and respect immensely the words of many people on this forum, Brendan, Solar and Combuster being the fore-runners. I have, in fact, tried (I do not know how successfully) to model my style of replies in the same form that Brendan uses.

Your opinions expressed and the way you expressed them led me to the conclusion that your code would be haphazard and spaghetti-like. There is no one post that I can point to that led me to this conclusion, it was just a general picture of what you are like that I built up over all your posts.

You are very rash, and in my opinion it's possible that this will lead to ill-designed or ill-thought-out code.

Whether that's true or not is totally questionable seeing as I have no examples of your code to look at.

I understand your not wanting to be a copy-cat, and this is an extremely good quality, however there is a difference between being a copycat and asking for help. There is also a difference between 'being a copycat' and posting ill-researched tripe on forums regarding a language debate and flaunting it as fact.

If you become a troll because I call you one, then you are indeed fickle.

Cheers,

James

EDIT: I should also add that posting a massive flame then expecting not to get flamed back is slightly naive.

So because you didn't see any code you judge me by personality and forum presence? That's low! Yes, I guess I am fickle, but only with people, not with my code! Please do not judge me anymore, as I have not judged any of you. I merely pointed out something about C that you do not like. Developers get paid more to code in C/C++ than in any other language, but only because it's a waste of time, not because it can be used to achieve good quality. The fame of the language certainly is not enough for me to limit myself to it's heap of impossibilities, flaws or faults.
I only agree to being a troll because everybody accuses me of it, not because I think I am one! If acting like a troll is what I have to do to get something, then so be it, but I will not abandon my beliefs just to please everybody's greed for C or for copying already-written code.
I only think that keeping information inside code that tends to get singular in nature instead of inside articles/tutorials is damaging to those who are not single-minded.
EDIT: If it's so important to you and to the way I get judged, I will post all my code and I'll explain in detail what I'm trying to do, but I feel I will only do more harm that way than good. It would also make me feel robbed of something personal, but I can ignore that. Or if you want I could send any of you the code, but I feel that everything that has already been said will influence whoever looks at it. I have been labeled to be a troll because I don't post any code! That's stupid!

*throws tomato*
Why is it? You showed to be only capable of posting unwitty remarks and flame(bait). Being that that is the only thing you have shown we could even conclude you can't even program since you never showed us in all the time you were here.
Yes, I guess I am fickle
Good. have a tomato. you deserved it
but only with people, not with my code!
As said, you have no proof. In fact the reason that we have never seen any is just evidence of the contrary.
*throws tomato*
Please do not judge me anymore, as I have not judged any of you.
*throws tomato*
You have insulted practically every regular here at least thrice, troll.
I merely pointed out something about C that you do not like. Developers get paid more to code in C/C++ than in any other language, but only because it's a waste of time, not because it can be used to achieve good quality.
*throws tomato*
Bull! You're just posting nonsense again without single proof or evidence. Come on, quote your sources, I dare you.
The fame of the language certainly is not enough for me to limit myself to it's heap of impossibilities, flaws or faults.
You can do just about anything in C. *throws tomato* C was designed to be a low level system programming language. That does not make it flawed *throws tomato* or even faulty *throws tomato*
I only agree to being a troll because everybody accuses me of it, not because I think I am one!
Ooooh so sad. Our little troll doesn't even know its heritage
If acting like a troll is what I have to do to get something, then so be it, but I will not abandon my beliefs just to please everybody's greed for C or for copying already-written code.
You are entitled to your opinion. However, causing a fight over such a thing makes you a troll, and insulting people because they believe otherwise is just unacceptable.
*throws tomato*
I only think that keeping information inside code that tends to get singular in nature instead of inside articles/tutorials is damaging to those who are not single-minded.
That explains a lot, you're afraid it will harm yourself.

*looks around*
wow, I hit every single time. Where's my camera?

In case you wondered, your behaviour is just inacceptable, and in case you wonder, every response you give here lowers your karma score more and more towards the depths of gehennom. I think its best that you leave now before you'd actually get to that place, which is something I wouldn't want to happen to anybody.

Thanks, and I'd like to return the compliment.

Good to know where you picked up that "cheers, (...)" bit from :)

Ha! You didn't say anything about that! That must mean I am right there... You guys want code because you can't write your own! Otherwise, I just don't see the point of this desperate insistence that I offer you code...
Honestly, I don't care about my status anymore! I only hope that someone will see this topic BEFORE they decide to join this forum!

You edited that in while I wrote my post. No wonder.

EDIT: since you liked the tomatoes, I've got overdue watermelons too

You obviously never understood what has been said about your behaviour.
It would also make me feel robbed of something personal, but I can ignore that.
Shut up whining. We can't force you to release your code.
Or if you want I could send any of you the code, but I feel that everything that has already been said will influence whoever looks at it.
Because whatever code you wrote does not make a difference.
I have been labeled to be a troll because I don't post any code! That's stupid!
And once again YOU DID NOT READ WHAT EVERYBODY SAID.

And once again, quit feeding the flamewar. There's no way you can win. In fact your next post in this thread will contain the same kind of unintelligible remarks as we have come to know of you.

People this is all a lot of nonsense... Show some respect to fellow board member and think before you post. There is no need to go into a war about personal visions as these never will be won/solved due to the personal aspect of the subject. People will always disagree and sometimes agree when two or more kindred minds connect. If you think a discussion leads nowhere remember that everyone is entitled to have an opinion and say something in the trend: "That is your opinion/vision however i, and some other members of this forum, do not share it. I/We gave our opinion and it is up to you to either disregard or regard them." and be done with the thread then.

remember: Make OS'es not war !!
