lol I don't use AVG because of too many 'virus warnings', I use it because it is lightweight, and stays out of my way. It alerts me when it needs to, but doesnt take up too many resources and doesn't annoy me.

the point was though, that it is free, and not part of microsofts "money machine" haha.

@Solar: You're right, theres no way a system, with unique Operating System, non-DirectX aimed hardware and no relation to current system's could be brought out that was adopted by gamers and serious game developers even before it's release...

Microsoft is awesome ....

Microsoft and Windows are awesome because of obvious reasons( at least from my perspective 8)8) ) . I do not use an antivirus .... Most of the time i manually delete the virus ( by mounting it from linux off-course) and change the registry entries myself .

I think it's a lot easier to develop and maintain software under Windows than any of the nix clone's out there . The second reason is increased hardware support. I am not stating that linux is bad . Linux indeed is a good mature os ..but it is not very intutive .. I remember having a frustrating time installing Slackware 3.0 on my PC ( my sound card , agp card and my modem was not detected ..).I finally managed to run X on a cool resolution of something like 300 * 200 ( It wont accept anything else).. On the other hand Window's installation and use is very user friendly. I do not like hypocrsy ... There are people who state that Microsoft and its products are defective by design .. but still try to emulate them ... in many respects ... dotGNU .. Mono for instance... This my friend is hypocrsy at its very best ... Well the recommended reading is George Orwell's - Animal Farm ...

The only OS developers tactics in which i hate, are Apples with their completely negative and finger-pointing ads/commercials. If you havent noticed, their ads are "we're better than microsoft" while microsofts ads are "we make life easier".
Quite. Microsoft isn't as bad as people make it out to be, it's just the fact that they own the market majority (by a lot) that makes people throw hate I guess.

Honestly, I have almost no problems with Microsoft and Windows. Windows is a perfect OS for me, it runs every program that I've ever wanted it to (save Valgrind, which is apparently Linux only). I haven't seen my computer bluescreen in forever, and that includes running Vista. Windows 2000 was the last OS I used much before Vista, and it only bluescreened because I had faulty RAM, or bad drivers (such as driver malfunctions when shutting down). I can hardly blame Windows for that. The only complaint I have about Windows is that it is prohibitively expensive to buy at retail price, but that's Microsoft's choice and right.

Linux I don't know enought about. I was forcefully introduced to it by the Computer Science department at my university, and had to get used to it pretty fast. I didn't really have any trouble working with it as a command line interface, but I will say that some things were sort of striking to me as far as differences went between it and Windows. Drive mounting is an example, I never did figure out how to access a flash drive in it. Another is the organization of the GUI (which distro was it... KDE I think), but it wasn't too bad. User directories and permissions took a little getting used to though. Overall, I like Linux ok, I just don't know enough about it, and I'm not adventurous enough to try and install it on my current machine (wireless adaper, oh my!).

Mac OS I don't care for. I really can't say why, under the hood it might as well be Linux based on what I've read (what is it, BSD based or sometihng?). The interface never really impressed me, and lack of software support (games!) does it in for me. Since the interface is pretty much the whole selling point, no Mac OS for me, thanks.
