friend: so i want to rip my cd collection but im not sure how much music i can have on my computer.
me: well, that really depends on which quality you wan't it in. Higher quality mean less and visa versa.
friend: i see, but i have a 200 gb drive so that gives me how much?
me: as i said, it depends on the quality. if you want the full cd quality it will be 8 or 9 mb per minute, but if you choose to compress it, it won't take up as much space thus you can have more music on your harddrive. But keep in mind that it will also influence the quality of the music.
friend: AH! so if i want good quality i can only have 200 minutes of music?
me: no, that'll be around 200.000 minutes of music.
friend: that is alot.
me: yes it is, but is it enough?
friend: gee, i don't know, maybe i should go out and buy my self a bigger harddrive, i do have over 200 cd's you know.
It's not really that funny, but it more or less covers a conversation i had with a friend the other day.

This wasn't a conversation, but i went to circuit city and whenever i'm there i like to run this little program on the windows machines
I did this on one computer and an employee came over and unplugged the monitor, but left the computer running!

Just the other day, we got a new router (cheap Belkin crap), and my dad thought that the modem was causing the wireless to irrevocably cut out every few hours, even though the previous router never disconnected. Not directly PC-related, but, meh.
Also, at one point, my mom thought that Firefox was Windows/"the Internet."

With Belkin, it's best not to rule anything out.

I found this on a standardized test today
"My computer crashed last night while working on my report", said Luis
"You should run a system check", said Mary
"I ran a diagnostic", said Luis, "And found a syntax error in the software"
"That happened to me last week", said Tim, "It was a software problem"
I cried laughing.

But that one actually sorta sounds plausible... Almost.

Dear Lord! What test was it, and what subject, out of interest?
"My computer crashed last night while working on my report"
"And found a syntax error in the software"
Hahahahaha, serves you right for using a word processor written in a scripting language (the only explanation I can find for a syntax error being detected at runtime).
Hahahahaha
That's a good one!

Haha, I can see it now, you're running a program, and you get confronted with a dialog box like this:
"ERROR: This program has crashed due to a syntax error. Probably caused by that lazy programmer who always seems to do nothing and doesn't get fired. Maybe he's sleeping with the boss's daughter or something.... Either way, he fucked something up."

It doesn't have to be funny but it helps.
Mine:
A friend asks me if i can upgrade the ram in his laptop.
I said yes and he says: "You wont need a soldering iron will you?"
Jules
Actually on the lower eee Pc models the RAM is soldered to the board. And you cant desolder and solder in a new [larger] piece if you want to void the warranty for the boost in performance. It's not really that crazy of a thing to day.

Normally I'm a developer, network security architect and sys-admin. However, I occasionally do technical support, both for customers and employees. The following occurred earlier this week.
We have a remote office in a small town in rural North America. I (at my HQ) was helping a fellow employee (at this office). I was controlling her PC remotely using UltraVNC over a VPN. Her PC was running really slow. It was windy out (at her location) - about 30 MPH gusts. And, I **** you not... she asked me if her PC was slow because of the wind. It was all that I could do to just tell her "um, no". She then explained to me that her satellite TV goes out when it gets windy like this. I then realized, that to her, TV == computer. But we had a good laugh about it back at the HQ.

Customer: "Sorry to bother you again, but I think my son threw a stone in my PC. It tells me, 'Your PC is Stoned!'"
