I'm sorry you take it as an insult, but if the majority of voters in a country confuses a song contest with a nation contest, I call that immature. That applies to Estonia with lots of Russian people just as well as to Germany with lots of Turkish people, or Andorra giving 12 of 18 points to Spain.

At least, you got the excuse that the Russian song actually was good. I don't see much excuse for voting for Spain or Turkey.

Is that to EVC norms, or to good norms? Small nuance there.

Personal opinion. My wife and me, we're hobbyist singers (the campfire variety), and we both thought the Russian song wasn't that bad. The stage show was pretty good, too.

I haven't really heard any actually good songs on the EVC, but it's indeed a matter of personal taste. A friend of mine's mom's very fond of ABBA, for example.

Sometimes, there really is a good performance, too. I haven't seen the EVC for years, but I remember that 'bout five years ago or so, there was this German with lace sleeves, wearing some 18th century costume. I still vividly remember his performance, climbing on everything he could find, nearly going to the technicians up on some platform. Now that was one hell of a good performance

They won because they most clearly indicated that the current eurovision songfestival is nearly pure bull. If only because all small countries near each other vote for eachother and for the country of origin for most people. Dutch people and German people can't vote for their own country, but turks in both countries can vote for their mother country (turkey). Triple guess why they got 12 points from iirc both?

Well I'm a finnish metal fan, and while not necessary young (I'm 24) I'd say it's hard rock, which ofcourse is little problematic, because lot of the original heavy metal would now be categorized in hard rock instead.

Some people (at least in here) seem to care. I personally do not. I find it sufficient to say, that there exists certain amount of music, that can be rightly categorized as either heavy metal, or hard rock, depending on your mood. In fact, claiming heavy metal to be a sub-genre of hard rock (and not metal in the first place) wouldn't necessarily go too far.

Have watched that Lordi video. Now, if I were for that kind of Hard Rock, I'd like it, but I don't really enjoy this growling and screaming. I'm more that type of guy who enjoys TOTO, Bon Jovi & sorta.

Besides, those who consider that Pop Music should listen to Pet Shop Boys & sorta. That's pop, if I know the differences. *fg*
