If someone is to lazy to read, why should we be willing to write?

Request someone inform this guy what "pwned" actually means, along with pointers to an english dictionary so if he can't program then he can at least insult us coherently.

Also, thread locking/deletion request seconded.

i cant wait to see the comments in his OS ;D People need to sign up so they feel more like this is not just some place they can say anything.

p.s. Jojje: solar answered your ? You just need to turn off Windows-specific dependencies; I think there is a command line flag just a little research needed?

Hmm. Jojje i a Swedish 14 year old kid that have been asking me stuff on msn for a while now. He refuses to read anything thats not written directly to him, preferable in Swedish and on MSN.

ok the way I see you are, your probably best to get a copy of some good, simple linux source, and then modify that code how you like, would make it a lot more simple and satisying most likely
but for the actual topic, make sure your not using C++ because you have to make malloc before you can really do anything in it, but just change your main to _main in your code and if your using C then just make a dummy _alloca it worked for me(I don't remeber how I fixed it to where it dind't do that but anyway it worked)



btw2 I consider anyone that says "pwned" a n00b unless your using with with sarcasim

No, I didn't write an OS, let alone one that is rocking. But I took the liberty to delete the two offending posts, and will assume that it wasn't Jojje who wrote them but some troll. (Yet another reason to register and use an account...)

anyway the phrase "solar svarte din ?" sounds more like norwegian.. "svarte" should be "svarade".

cheaked back and babelfish doesn't, so must of been something else whats fun is translating english to something then back and reading it, was:

NB: i havent read more than the first three posts.

I came to this forum some time ago because i had found a "hello world!" bootloader tutorial on the net and thought: "hey! this is easy, im gonna make my own OS so i dont have to deal with this windows/linux crap anymore!"
However, i quickly learned that it ain't that easy.
Make no mistake, im actually very tallentet and fairly intelligent, but im not dedicated enough and i dont have the indept knowledge that i need.
So once in a while i look at a few toturials and manuals and try to figure out the basics; the GDT, IDT, LDT, segments, paging, protected mode, long mode, etc.
Then i come to the point where i think i understand it. kinda...
I then make a few atempts to get something working and then i give up, convinced that i must have an IQ lower than Forrest Gumps...

So take a VERY big step back and ask you self:
1. Do i stand a chance?
2. Am i dedicated enough?
3. Should i use my time on something else? (OS developing takes ALOT of time.)
