While not impossible, this is extremely tedious and because of stray inductance and capacitance, it is pretty hard to go above 3 mhz mark this way . Hope this is an good learning/fun experience for you. The oldhomebrew cpu web ring ( http://www.homebrewcpuring.org/ringhome.html ) might be very useful as a reference.
