Re:Dex4u OS
well, it looks like the problem was specifc to Qemu 0.6.0 ... tried with Qemu 0.7.0 and it worked fine (AMD test machine is busy for other purpose this week as you might have guessed).
sorry for the inconvenience. Nice work you did on that one...

Re:Dex4u OS
Working with emulators is like using hardware drivers: you should always use the latest version ;D
Re:Dex4u OS
If we were interested in convenience, we would just use windows, like 99% of peoplesorry for the inconvenience. Nice work you did on that one...
True, but some times code only works with the old ver .Working with emulators is like using hardware drivers: you should always use the latest version ;D
Once again thanks for all your's, test info .
Re:Dex4u OS
I'm going to download and try to run off my thumb drive. It looks like you got some nasty bugs in there still :'(

Re:Dex4u OS
it's a pretty cool os you have here
Have successfully tested it in qemu 0.7.2 (the windows version) here at home with qemu 0.8.0 it didn't show the graphics correctly, so I reckon that's merely a question of the used emulator. In vmware-server it refuses to load the gui. It falls back to a shell and displays A> or so.
stay safe

Re:Dex4u OS
To get it to run from a usb fob, best to format it fat and sys file it, i do not know if you can do that on XP, as i uses win 98 with USB driver installed.
Than add all file from image to usb fob including kernel32.exe and gui.dex and any demo programs.
Next once booted to the dos prompt, type kernel32.exe and enter and you should be at the gui menu.
You can also go back to dos by typing exit at the dex4u prompt.
Also most of the bugs are to do with emulators ver etc.
beyond infinity, thanks for testing, you can try the gui from the command line by typing "run gui.dex" and enter, also you can type help for a list of commands.
