I don't think you sound like a loser. I wouldn't take seriously anyone on the internet saying that you are a loser.

Also remember, practically every OS on this site is a "Hobby OS". In other words, made outside of work hours for fun. Are you having fun? If you aren't enjoying it then take a break and do something else. There is nothing wrong with that and nothing saying you can't start work on your OS again later.
