I agree, not everyone is making a UNIX clone.
Besides, this is a hobby. If someone wants to figure out how to program these useful commands from the ground up and in their own way, it's still challenging and will result in something original.

I've already tested it and have already provided feedback in IRC.

I'm somewhere between having a unix-like OS and a DOS-like OS. Most of my command names are similar or just like their unix equivalents, but I don't have an "everything is a file" design implemented (yet.)

I'm not trying to fully emulate Unix. I am right now trying to learn more about all of this stuff.

My project is only semi-posix to make it easier to port newlib and therefore other stuff. My main goal right now is to make my OS self hosting, and the easiest way I've thought of doing this is porting the toolchain, so I'm going to make my kernel compatible with it.

After that who knows?

Plus I like the unix way of doing things.
