Last week me and a friend was back in the woods plotting out our "paint ball arena" and we were standing by a creek when we saw a crane land in a tree just 50 feet away from us. When I first saw it through the trees it looked like a hawk, but then we saw it was indeed a crane and it was awesome to see one so close. I too like birds of *prey*. They only suck when you have small pets running around outside and one takes it. . . so sad.

I have a Russian Hamster and I pretty much treat it like another human being. Don't think I would like rats due to their size and tail (it makes me nauseas), but rodents certainly are fun to have; however, I'd take a puppy or kitten over a rodent any day; a kitten more than a puppy. If I could chose any dog I'd get a German Shepard because of their beauty and heart. They are a really loyal and competent breed of dog, plus they are good with kids. As for a cat, I think I would opt for a mutt, something striped and gray with white paws, or black with white paws; not too fond of many pure bred cats, but the mutts are cool.

@Omega , I agree with you about German Shepard dogs, my mom breeds them and its the only dog i would have.

Psst, ditch Fruity Loops and step up to ACID. Still loop-based but (IMHO) far better and with more features. Also, once you break free of the loops scene, if you want to really get into synthesized tunes, grab a copy of Propellerhead's Reason 4.

I'm interested in almost anything.

Besides computers and electronics in general, other topics that I've been interested in enough to at least buy a book on the subject include: running, weight training, music theory/music production, nutrition, psychology, psychiatry, pharmacology, philosophy (I might qualify for a minor in philosophy, actually...), biochemistry, spanish (been a while, though), pets (used to have hamsters and gerbils when I was younger, always loved ferrets, I love cats but I'm a much bigger fan of dogs--I saved this one ), photography

I play guitar, piano, used to play the clarinet. I'm thinking about buying a bass soon--my roommate up until this summer had a really nice bass; he played for a band before college and his band was very good, they played for MTV and their demo album was produced by a guy who worked on other platinum albums. He graduated and moved out though, so no more bass.

I actually really like how FL's mixer works, I haven't gotten around to trying Pro Tools or Ardour, though I hear they are very nice, I've been meaning to build a small studio and try them out.

Another piece of software I would suggest at least having a look at is Steinberg's Cubase. It's similar to Pro Tools, but isn't so restricted in the hardware you can use (Pro Tools only allows you to use their hardware, as well as a few M-Audio pieces). Cubase can use pretty much everything. IMHO too, the Cubase interface is easier to use.

I haven't tried Ardour (I don't use UNIX), but it looks pretty cool too. Not having to pay ~$500AU for mixing software is also a bonus. That's a couple of decent microphones, a sound card, a bass, or whatever.

The only disadvantage that i see about FL is that the tones-- mainly the styrus.. are not so nice or so professional.. They, i guess are intentionally made extremely funky with wa-wa-tiu-tiu sounds to attract crowd.. I need a tool that will have better inbuilt sounds...

Hence right now checking ACID and Propeller whatever...

Cubase is nice, except IMHO it has a very steep learning curve.

ProTools is fantastic if you are doing recordings and mastering, but the hardware is expensive and not the greatest. I would much prefer the software be compatible with more hardware so that I could go purchase hardware that I like.

Also, the program SONAR is decent for recording. There is a program called Ableton Live that is pretty neat as far as pre-made loops being thrown together in a non-linear fashion. There is a huge amount of control over effects in Ableton Live as well.

My driving interest is to study the systems I am under. When in a school, hospital or competition I like to study the markings which give each person rank, how they document everything and the methods by which the subjects of the system are sorted. This drive has also led me to study program making, windows and then eventually here (once I became disgusted with Window's standards). Social groups, including government, also falls under scrutinization because manipulation of those can get you anything you want. Ever since I was a young kid I have idolized con-artists. Not so much for their despicable deeds but rather for the understanding of the system to such a great extent as to live off exploiting it. ("Catch me if you can" was an amazing movie)

I am an American Amateur Radio (HAM) Operator. I love to operate radios and I love the magic behind radios. I have actually tossed around the idea of working on a software radio from time to time. It would sure make the hobby a lot cheaper if I could use this existing hardware but there is probably a reason it hasn't been done yet.

I love psychology possibly more than I do computers. But the love child of the two hobbies is my want to play around in the feild of AI. Hungry Dots (whenever I can get more time on that project) is an experiment into such. I have recently been reading a little on the ideas of Freud esp Libedo and Thanatos and ID, Ego and Super Ego. I would love to implement some of that into the AI. I seem a little quiet in real person but that is because I get so caught up in just listening and studying the thought patterns.
