IRC and team e-mails for low-level programming

All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

IRC is for a quick question/answer method.
In theory. More and more often, you are asking a question in a room full of people idling, in which you are better off posting to a forum anyhow.

Well, I think forum is still good since you have everything logged and can refer them later and no need to repeat the same thing again.
IRC is good since we can get a quick response but still forum seems to be better because of mentioned reasons..

What good about a log when most people will post the same question even though it has already been answered several times before?

Why not just create an irc channel, maybe allso with a java app from this site so you don't need to have irc software installed. Then people can use it if they want. It wouldnt hurt and allso it would be fairly simple.
This was supposed to be a cool signature...
