IMHO, if you don't know enough English to communicate on a web forum, you should work hard to improve your English first before continuing your computer development, because without solid English skills you'll be a one-legged in an @$$-kicking contest in this arena.

And I say this as a German, who enjoys the excellent support of his language in book translations and web presences. You need English, period.

So someone doesn't want to speak english, fine. Then, don't expect us to speak your language. Besides, Solar is right - you need english to write quality software, especially OSes. In fact I think if we do help people here in their native speech, we will only be keeping that truth from them like people do with little children.

If you write a question in, e.g. German, only the people who speak German can answer you. And it segments the forum (I for one would go elsewhere if I couldn't understand half of what was being said because it was in a mixture of languages).

So you need a common denominator. English being the best choice as all coding languages are written in English anyway.

Not all programming languages are English-based. I've seen a couple of Chinese ones around, and I'm sure there are other language ones as well. However, you are right in that the vast majority are.

Eric Raymond said you must learn English. I don't agree with him on a lot of things, but in this respect, I agree with him fully. How are you supposed to read the Intel manuals if you don't read English?
