Well, the thread seems to be quite focused on abstracting the hardware away, and someone actually went as far as to say:

The whole point of an operating system is provide an api that's independant of the hardware beneith,

My previous was simply a hint based on my differing personal opinion.

If you quoted the part you were responding to in the first place, it would have saved us some confusion.
