You just functionalised graphics by assigning an icon for a floppy disk mountpoint. It does not really matter if you replace palm tree with floppy disk or gray box.

Icons take extra space which could be otherwise used for something more useful information. FOR EXAMPLE. the icon does not tell whether it is your floppy drivers, floppy disk mount, just your folder or file with such icon...

Windows Vista rapes you, cuts you and pisses inside. Thought these are just nifty side-effects.
